GUCCI APPOINTS A NEW CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Out with the old in with the new, Gucci appoints a new Creative Director, Alessandro Michele. Alessandro was formally an associate to Ms. Giannini, ex-creative director of Gucci, since 2002. He's no stranger to the industry, previously working for Tom Ford and Fendi.
Gucci's decision to move forward with a new creative director was due to the brand not performing as well as it should've been. Ms. Giannini’s vision was too focused on the past, bringing in old styles and trying to re-vamp them. Ultimately this did not drive high sales to the business.
I am so excited to see what Alesandro has in store for Gucci, it seems to me he has sharpened that edge we have come to know. The big announcement was made after the Men’s show last week. With only 5 days to come up with an entire collection for the Mens Fall 15’ line, he has already shown us what he has to offer. I can only imagine what he has in store for Women’s Fall 15 coming in a few weeks! See the link below for Allesandro’s first collection. Stay tuned for Fall 15’ Womens RTW.
